Vatnsfell Diversion Dam is associated with the Vatnsfell diversion, the engineered outlet from the southern end of Lake Thorisvatn. The diversion regulates water leaving the lake and conveys it through Vatnsfell Power Station towards Krokslon.

The structure is comparatively small but forms an important control point in the hydropower system. It is associated with a concrete control structure and diversion canal regulating the outflow from Thorisvatn.
