Hrauneyjafoss Dam is part of Hrauneyjafoss Power Station within the Thjorsa and Tungnaa hydropower system. The dam forms Hrauneyjalon, which receives water from Sigalda Power Station before it is used again at Hrauneyjafoss.

The dam is approximately 15 metres high and 3,000 metres long. Hrauneyjalon covers about 8.8 square kilometres when full and has a storage capacity of approximately 33 GL. Hrauneyjafoss Power Station entered service in 1981.
