Blanda Dam is the main dam of the Blanda hydropower development and is located near Reftjarnarbunga on the northern edge of the Highlands. Together with Kolka Dam, it forms Blondulon, one of Iceland's largest storage reservoirs.
The dam is approximately 800 metres long and 44 metres high. Blondulon covers about 57 square kilometres when full and has a storage capacity of roughly 400 GL.
Water from Blondulon is conveyed through canals and lakes for about 25 kilometres to Gilsarlon, the intake reservoir for Blanda Power Station.
