Urðaviti is a lighthouse on Heimaey in the Westman Islands. An earlier lighthouse at the site was lost beneath lava during the 1973 eruption, and later replacements were affected by erosion of the newly formed coastline.
The present lighthouse was built in 1986 to a design by engineer Steingrímur Arason. Its history reflects the unusually dynamic volcanic and coastal landscape of Heimaey.
