Sléttueyri Lighthouse stands on Sléttunes north of the entrance to Jökulfirðir. It was built in 1949 to a design by engineer Axel Sveinsson and is 4.85 metres high. Gas lighting was used until the lighthouse was converted to solar power in 1993.
