Lagarfoss Dam

Lagarfoss Dam is a dam structure on the Lagarfljot river beside Lagarfoss Hydropower Plant in East Iceland. It was constructed during the development of the power plant in the early 1970s, above the former Lagarfoss waterfall where the river leaves Steinsvadsfloa.

The earthfill dam is approximately 100 metres long and reaches a maximum height of about 10 metres. Construction of Lagarfoss Power Plant began in 1971 and electricity generation started in 1975.

The power station was later expanded, with additional generating capacity entering service in 2007.
