About Kaldaklof Geothermal Area
Kaldaklof is one of the six principal subareas of the large Torfajokull high-temperature geothermal system. It lies in the eastern part of the Torfajokull region, in rugged highland terrain of rhyolite, glaciers and geothermal alteration. Surface features indicate powerful geothermal activity, but visitor infrastructure is minimal and the area is remote. Kaldaklof is important as part of one of Iceland's largest and most diverse geothermal systems.
