Grjota Dam forms part of the water conveyance system serving Fljotsdalur Power Station in the Highlands north of Vatnajokull. It is located on the Grjota river east of Grjotarhnjukur and collects water for diversion into the hydropower system.
The dam is approximately 150 metres long and reaches a maximum height of about 15 metres. It creates a small reservoir, Grjotarlon, covering roughly 0.25 square kilometres.
Grjota Dam is one of several smaller diversion structures that together form the extensive water supply system of Fljotsdalur Power Station.
