Borgarhvilftarvatn is a natural lake and the intake reservoir for Mjolka I in the Westfjords. It receives water from its own catchment as well as diverted water from the Hofsa river.
The lake provides approximately 0.35 GL of storage and plays an important role in supplying the older section of the Mjolkar hydropower development.
