Arbaer Dam is a historic structure in Ellidaardalur in Reykjavik and formed part of Ellidaar Hydropower Plant. The dam was first constructed in 1920 and was later raised and extended, with works continuing until 1929.
The dam created Arbaer Reservoir, which provided short-term water storage for the power plant. Ellidaar Power Station entered service in 1921 and played an important role in the electrification of Reykjavik.
Arbaer Dam and several other structures associated with the power station are protected for their cultural and architectural significance.
