Tungudalur Campsite is the main campsite of Ísafjörður and one of the most popular outdoor areas in the town. It is located in a lush valley just above the settlement, offering excellent shelter and scenic surroundings.
The campsite is set among trees, with the river Buná flowing through the area, creating a peaceful and attractive environment. Extensive development in recent years has improved facilities for tents, caravans and motorhomes.
Facilities include a service building with toilets, showers and laundry facilities. Electric hookups are available, and the site is well suited for families, groups and independent travellers.
Tungudalur is also a popular recreational area for locals, with walking paths, playgrounds and easy access to the town centre of Ísafjörður, including shops, restaurants and swimming pool facilities.
Nearby attractions include Súðavík, Bolungarvík, Ísafjarðardjúp and campsites at Flateyri, Þingeyri, Suðureyri, as well as the spectacular waterfall Dynjandi.
The campsite has two service buildings with toilets and showers. A kitchen, washing machine and dryer are available, including accessible toilet and shower facilities. Electricity and motorhome waste disposal are also provided.
