Látrabjarg Nature Reserve protects one of Iceland's most dramatic seabird cliffs in the Westfjords. The cliffs rise steeply from the Atlantic Ocean and provide nesting habitat for large numbers of seabirds.
The area is characterised by towering sea cliffs, wide ocean views and exceptional birdlife. Látrabjarg is particularly well known for puffins during summer.
Bjargtangi Lighthouse stands near the western end of the area. Visitors can also explore nearby Hvallátur.
Cliff edges can be extremely dangerous and the soil may be unstable. Visitors should stay well back from edges and avoid disturbing nesting birds.
The purpose of the reserve is to protect Látrabjarg's exceptional bird cliffs, ecosystems and landscape.
