Hvallátur is a small settlement in Látravík in the Westfjords of Iceland. It lies by the bay of the same name and is the final settlement before reaching Látrabjarg, one of Europe’s most impressive bird cliffs.
Today, permanent residence in Hvallátur is limited, and most houses are used as summer homes. Despite this, the area still reflects the history of former settlement and coastal life in the region.
Hvallátur is surrounded by dramatic Westfjords scenery, with ocean views and steep mountainsides. It is a popular stop for travellers heading toward Látrabjarg, famous for its seabird colonies and spectacular coastal views.
The surrounding area is well suited for hiking, nature observation and photography, offering visitors a sense of the remoteness and quiet beauty of southern Vestfirðir.
Hvallátur er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
Hvallátur er hluti af fjölbreyttri náttúru, menningu og afþreyingu Íslands.
