Grundarfoss

Grundarfoss is an approximately 70-metre-high waterfall in the Grundará river, just east of Grundarfjörður on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The waterfall is prominent on the mountainside and can be clearly seen from the main road.

Parking is available beside the main road. From there, visitors can walk through a small gate and continue on foot towards the waterfall. Visitors should use this access route. Do not drive or walk along the old road by the nearby farm, as it crosses private property. Please respect signs, fences and private land.

The walk provides a closer view of the waterfall and the surrounding mountain landscape. Conditions can be wet and slippery, particularly after rain and during periods of high water flow.

Grundarfoss is located only a short distance from Grundarfjörður and is clearly visible from the road, making it a scenic stop while travelling around the northern Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
