Skarðsvík Beach is a coastal or beach area in West Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different. The visit can be combined with Hellissandur and Öndverðarnes Coast . Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

The place can form part of a wider trip through West Iceland, combining naturally with other landscape, heritage and travel experiences depending on interests and season.

Safety

Dangerous waves

Waves at Skarðsvík can be very powerful. Visiting around low tide is recommended, and visitors should keep well back from the sea when surf conditions are strong.

Skarðsvík is a light sandy beach on Snæfellsnes that contrasts strongly with the surrounding dark volcanic landscape. Its turquoise water and pale shore give the beach a distinctive appearance.
