Glera Dam is a concrete dam in Glerardalur above Akureyri and forms part of Glera Hydropower Plant II. The dam was constructed during development of the new power station between 2013 and 2017.
The structure is approximately 90 metres long and 7.4 metres high. It consists of a spillway, bottom outlet and intake structure, with embankment sections and concrete cut-off walls on both sides.
Water from the Glera river enters the power system through the dam intake and is conveyed into the penstock serving Glera II, which has an installed capacity of approximately 3.3 MW.
