Þerribjörg and Múlahöfn is a coastal or beach area in East Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different. The visit can be combined with Vopnafjörður and Þerribjörg . Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

The place can form part of a wider trip through East Iceland, combining naturally with other landscape, heritage and travel experiences depending on interests and season.

Safety

Access is on foot along a marked route. The area is steep and remote, and visitors should consider weather and trail conditions.

Þerribjörg are colourful sea cliffs east of Hellisheiði eystri. A marked trail leads down to Múlahöfn and onward to the cliffs, where rhyolite and other colourful rock layers dominate the coastal landscape.
