Móvíkur is a coastal or beach area in East Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different.
The visit can be combined with Vopnafjörður and Þerribjörg. Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.
The area is remote and reached on foot. Take care around steep slopes and cliffs.
Móvíkur lie on the outer coast of Vopnafjörður. Cliffs approximately 200–300 metres high rise above the coves, and colourful rock formations characterise the landscape.
