Langanes Lighthouse in Arnarfjörður was built in 1949 and designed by engineer Axel Sveinsson. The rectangular concrete lighthouse is approximately 4.8 metres high. Gas equipment was used until 1993, when the lighthouse was converted to solar-powered electricity.
