About Krysuvik Geothermal Area
Krysuvik is an extensive geothermal and volcanic area on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It includes Seltun, Austurengjar and other sites where mud pots, steam vents, colourful geothermal deposits and volcanic features can be seen. Krysuvik lies within an active fissure system and has considerable geological and natural value. Because geothermal ground can be extremely hot and fragile, visitors should remain on marked routes where provided and respect closures or safety restrictions.
