Krosshólaborg is an ancient historical site in the Dalir region of West Iceland, located a short distance from Búðardalur. The site is closely connected to Auður the Deep-Minded, one of the most influential figures of Iceland’s settlement era.
According to tradition, Auður is believed to have built the stone enclosure as a place of prayer. She was a Christian settler who arrived in Iceland before the official adoption of Christianity at Alþingi.
Krosshólaborg consists of a circular stone structure built on a small hill and is considered one of the earliest Christian-related monuments in Iceland.
The peaceful surroundings and open views across the countryside make the site a meaningful stop for visitors interested in Icelandic history and archaeology.
Nearby attractions include Búðardalur, Hólmavík and the Reykhólar area.
