Ingjaldssandur is a coastal or beach area in the Westfjords, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different. The visit can be combined with Flateyri and Sæbóls Church . Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

The place can form part of a wider trip through the Westfjords, combining naturally with other landscape, heritage and travel experiences depending on interests and season.

Safety

The road into Ingjaldssandur crosses mountainous terrain and can be challenging. Drive according to conditions.

Ingjaldssandur is a large green valley between Önundarfjörður and Dýrafjörður that ends at the coast. Access is via a rough mountain road and only one working farm remains in the valley.
