Beaches
Holt Beach is a coastal or beach area in the Westfjords, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different.
The visit can be combined with Flateyri and Holtsbryggja. Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.
During the eider nesting season from April 15 to July 14, parts of the beach and dunes are restricted. Respect signs and stay out of marked nesting areas.
Holtsfjara in Önundarfjörður is a sweeping golden-sand beach and dune system curving into the fjord. It is popular for walking and is an important nesting area for eider ducks.
