Hópsnes Lighthouse was built in 1928 on Þórkötlustaðanes near Grindavík. The area was formerly an important fishing station and contains numerous remains associated with fishing and shipwrecks. The tower is about eight metres high.

The lighthouse is 8 metres high. The focal height is approximately 16 metres above sea level. The light has a listed range of 13 nautical miles.
