Northern Eyvindar Dam forms part of the fourth stage of the Kvislaveita diversion system. It was constructed together with Hreysi Dam and associated canals as the system was expanded.

The dam is approximately 230 metres long and reaches a maximum height of about 15 metres. It helps collect and divert water through Kvislaveita towards the Thorisvatn storage system.
