Dritvík is a coastal or beach area in West Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different.

The visit can be combined with Hellnar and Djúpalónssandur. Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

Safety

Dangerous waves
Not suitable for swimming

Heavy surf and strong undertow can occur along the shore. Dritvík is accessible only on foot.

Dritvík was once an important seasonal fishing station that accommodated up to around 600 workers. A marked one-kilometre trail connects it with Djúpalónssandur.
