Skógá River

Skógá is a river in South Iceland, originating beneath Eyjafjallajökull and partly from Mýrdalsjökull. The river flows through Skógárgil canyon, forming numerous waterfalls before plunging over the cliffs as Skógafoss.

Rivers and glacial waterways can change quickly with weather, rain and snowmelt. Approach banks carefully and avoid attempting river crossings unless the route and conditions are well understood.
