Sandvík Beach in Vopnafjörður is a coastal or beach area in East Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different. The visit can be combined with Vopnafjörður and Vopnafjarðar Church . Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

The place can form part of a wider trip through East Iceland, combining naturally with other landscape, heritage and travel experiences depending on interests and season.

Safety

The Hofsá river can overflow its banks in spring and quicksand may form along the beach. Visitors should therefore use particular caution.
