Discover Iceland
Mjóifjörður (Westfjords) is a fjord in the Westfjords, where steep mountains, coastline and open water form a distinctive landscape. Iceland’s fjords have shaped settlement and transport for centuries and remain among the country’s defining geographic features.
A journey through the area can be combined with Flateyri and Innra-Bæjargil Gully. Views and conditions vary greatly with weather and season, so allow time to explore the fjord.
Mjóifjörður in Ísafjarðardjúp is about 18.4 km long and just over 2 km wide at its mouth. Maximum depth is about 60 metres.
