Kotströnd Church is located at Kotströnd in the Ölfus region of South Iceland. The church was built in 1909 and consecrated on 14 November of that year. Its construction followed the decision to close the former churches at Reykir and Arnarbæli.
Until 1940, the parish priest resided at Arnarbæli and served Hjalli Church, Selvogur Church and Kotströnd Church. From that time onward, Kotströnd became an annex church of Hveragerði, and residents attended services here until the church in Hveragerði was completed.
The churchyard at Kotströnd is bordered by traditional stone walls on two sides and today serves both Kotströnd Church and Hveragerði Church.
Kotströnd Church is a modest rural church set in the open landscape of Ölfus and represents an important chapter in the ecclesiastical and settlement history of the area in the early 20th century.
