Capital Region

The Capital Region is Iceland's most populated urban area and the country's main centre for administration, culture and services. Reykjavík forms the heart of the region, while neighbouring municipalities create a continuous urban area surrounded by coastline, lava landscapes and accessible outdoor recreation.

Visitors can combine museums, architecture, restaurants and swimming pools with walks and nature areas close to the city. The region is also the main transport and service hub for many journeys around Iceland.
