Breiðin, Akranes is a coastal or beach area in West Iceland, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different.
The visit can be combined with Akranes and Akranesviti. Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.
Breiðin is a popular coastal area around Akranes lighthouse on the western edge of the town. Seaside walking routes connect the area with other parts of the Akranes coastline and provide broad views over Faxaflói bay.
