Breiðavík Beach is a coastal or beach area in the Westfjords, shaped by open shoreline, sea views and the surrounding landscape. Tides, light and weather can change the character of the coast significantly, making each visit look and feel different. The visit can be combined with Hvallátur and Breiðuvíkur Church . Around Icelandic coasts, always keep a safe distance from strong surf and pay close attention to local conditions.

The place can form part of a wider trip through the Westfjords, combining naturally with other landscape, heritage and travel experiences depending on interests and season.

Breiðavík is a broad sandy bay in the southern Westfjords on the road towards Látrabjarg. Wind carries sand from the beach high onto the mountainsides at either end of the bay, creating a distinctive landscape.
