Churches of Iceland
Ásólfsskáli Church stands at Ásólfsskáli in South Iceland, in an area with a long history of church sites. The present church was built in the early 1950s and consecrated in 1955.
The building replaced an older timber church and was constructed from plans connected with the office of the State Architect. The church seats a substantial congregation and contains an altarpiece depicting Christ sending out the disciples. The surrounding area lies close to well-known destinations beneath Eyjafjallajökull.
