Selfoss [Fossinn]

Selfoss is a wide and remarkably beautiful waterfall in the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum, located a few hundred meters upstream from Dettifoss within Vatnajökull National Park. Although often overshadowed by its more powerful neighbor, Selfoss is an impressive waterfall with a distinct and graceful character.

The waterfall is approximately 10 meters high but exceptionally wide, making it one of the widest waterfalls in Iceland. The water flows over a gently curved basalt edge in countless streams, creating a soft and elegant cascade—especially striking during periods of high water flow.
