Ysti Rjúkandi is a striking and beautiful waterfall located in Jökuldalur valley in East Iceland. The waterfall is clearly visible from the Ring Road, making it easy to spot even before leaving the car.
Access to the waterfall is excellent. A short walking path leads from a paved parking area near the Ring Road to a viewpoint close to the falls. The walk takes only a few minutes and is suitable for most visitors.
Ysti Rjúkandi is the tallest waterfall in East Iceland, with a total height of approximately 139 meters. The waterfall is named after the mist and spray created as the water plunges down the cliff, giving it a powerful and dramatic appearance.
Rjúkandi descends over several rocky steps from the mountainside towards Route 1.
