Grunnafjörður Nature Reserve protects a shallow fjord in West Iceland with extensive mudflats, wetlands and rich birdlife. The reserve was established in 1994 and covers almost 14 km².
The protection preserves coastal, tidal and wetland habitats of major conservation importance. At low tide, large mudflats are exposed and provide feeding grounds for numerous bird species.
