Drekafoss is a scenic waterfall in Drekagil canyon by the Dyngjufjöll mountains, close to Askja in the Icelandic Highlands.
The waterfall drops into a narrow and rugged canyon known for unusual rock formations that resemble dragons. Drekafoss is approximately 30 metres high and is surrounded by dramatic volcanic terrain, dark cliffs and the open wilderness of the highlands.
A short walk from the Dreki hut leads into Drekagil towards the waterfall. The path can be rocky, and conditions depend on weather and water levels. Access to the Askja area is generally limited to the summer season when the highland roads are open.
Drekafoss is a natural stop for visitors exploring Askja, Víti and the Dyngjufjöll area.
