Churches of Iceland
Selárdalskirkja Samúels is part of the remarkable folk-art environment created by Samúel Jónsson at Brautarholt in Selárdalur in the Westfjords. Samúel, one of Iceland's best-known folk artists, built his own church after an altarpiece he had painted was not accepted for the local parish church.
The site also contains other distinctive works by Samúel and is an unusual cultural stop in the remote landscape of Arnarfjörður.
