At the mouth of Búlandsdalur, east of Búlandsá, are substantial ruins at a site known as Sel. The location is associated with the 1627 Turkish Raid, when historical accounts say eleven people from Háls were captured there. It has also been suggested that the earlier farm of Búland may once have stood at this location.
