Húsafell Forest Nature Reserve protects natural birch woodland in Borgarfjörður in West Iceland. The forest was first protected in 1974 and is now a popular area for hiking and outdoor recreation.

Its inland location and proximity to streams and rivers create distinctive growing conditions. Protection from grazing and disturbance has helped the birch woodland regenerate and expand naturally.

Walking trails run through the reserve and a visit can easily be combined with other attractions around Húsafell. These include Húsafell Canyon Baths, as well as the nearby Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls.

Visitors should protect trees and understory vegetation and use marked paths whenever possible.
