Bjargarrétt was originally an outlying holding of Búlandsnes and later became a separate farm. Documentary sources record occupation during the 19th century and the farm remained occupied until 1911. The site was later used for farm buildings, gardens and a sheep enclosure. The exact location of the former farmhouse is no longer certain.
