The Eurasian wigeon is a medium-sized dabbling duck that breeds widely in Iceland. The male is easily recognised by its chestnut head and pale forehead.
It feeds largely on vegetation and frequents shallow lakes, wetlands and grasslands. Eurasian wigeons often form flocks outside the breeding season.
