Long-tailed Duck

The long-tailed duck is a distinctive sea duck seen around Iceland mainly in winter. The male is easily recognized by its long tail feathers. The species spends most of its time at sea and along the coast.

Its diet consists of small crustaceans and mollusks. Long-tailed ducks breed in Arctic regions and winter in Icelandic waters. They are a characteristic winter sea duck.
