About Common Merganser

The common merganser is a large fish-eating duck found on rivers, lakes and coastal waters. Males are pale-bodied with dark green heads, while females are grey with reddish-brown heads.

It is a powerful diver that feeds mainly on fish. The species breeds in Iceland in small numbers and can also be seen during winter.
