Brown Rat

The brown rat is the largest rodent in Iceland and lives mainly near human settlements. It is robust and highly intelligent. Brown rats are adaptable and resourceful.

Their diet is varied and includes food waste and plant material. They live in groups and are mainly nocturnal. Brown rats are common in urban areas.
