The common ringed plover is a small wader that breeds widely in Iceland. It
prefers sandy beaches, gravel shores, and open ground. Ringed plovers are
highly defensive around their nesting areas.
Their diet consists of small invertebrates and insects. They nest directly
on the ground without building a nest. The species is common and well known
in Iceland.
