The starling is a relatively recent breeding bird in Iceland but has spread
rapidly in recent decades. It is highly social and often seen in large flocks,
especially outside the breeding season. Starlings are dark birds with a
metallic sheen visible in sunlight.
Their diet consists of insects, worms, and berries. They commonly inhabit
gardens, farmland, and areas close to human settlements. The starling has
become a permanent part of Iceland’s bird fauna.
