Common Raven

The raven is one of the most intelligent birds in Iceland and has long held a prominent place in Icelandic culture and folklore. It is a large black bird with a powerful bill and deep croaking call. Ravens are highly adaptable and occur throughout the country.

Their diet is varied, as they are both predators and scavengers. Ravens nest on cliffs, trees, and remote sites. They are resident birds and can be seen year-round in Iceland.

Carrion, small animals, birds, eggs, insects, berries and varied opportunistic food.
