The black guillemot is a common seabird along the Icelandic coast and usually
stays close to shore. It has dark plumage with a distinctive white wing patch.
The species is often seen resting on rocks near the sea.
Its diet consists of small fish and marine invertebrates caught by diving.
Black guillemots nest in rock crevices close to the shoreline. They are
resident birds in Iceland throughout the year.
